Wimpels

Wimpels were material representations of a family's hopes and dreams for their child, the new life they have brought into the world, a life bound to the study of Torah, ethical behavior, and the continuation of the Jewish community.

New Wimples for New Jewish Families

This is the first personal wimple that I created for a friend.  I have made others with groups of Bnai Mitzvah students, but now I am  trying to participate in the revival of this old, German Jewish tradition of recording a child's life cycle events on cloth.  This cloth travels from birth to the grave with the sweet additions by family members and friends.
